What is corten steel?
The name combines COR (corrosion resistance) and TEN (tensile strength). Corten steel is a weathering structural steel with added copper, chromium and nickel. Beneath the typical rust patina, a dense barrier layer forms that protects the steel from further corrosion.
- CorTen A (material 1.8946): alloyed with phosphorus, for sheet thicknesses up to 100 mm.
- CorTen B (material 1.8963): not alloyed with phosphorus, easy to form, for structures.

Beware of «noble rust»
Ordinary structural steel is sometimes sold as corten steel or «noble rust». It does not form a protective barrier layer, rusts through over time and stains garden paving and walls. Make sure you get genuine weathering steel with the right alloying elements.

We laser cut any design, from a simple pattern to a complex motif. We can also program hand sketches or photos for laser cutting. Every motif is visualised and discussed with you before production.

Which motifs can I have laser cut?
Our laser motif catalogue shows 79 proven designs: grasses, flowers, bamboo, animals, birds, mountains and mandalas. You can also create your own motif or send us a template, a hand sketch or a photo. We will take care of the outlines for you.
How does an order with my own motif work?
Send us your motif or the catalogue number (e.g. LTS-0021). We prepare it for laser cutting, visualise it on your object and discuss it with you. Only then does it go into production.
What are the motifs suitable for?
For privacy screens, steles, garden gates and railing infills, but also for wall cladding, stair cladding, raised beds and planters.
What is the difference between Corten steel and «rusted steel»?
Genuine Corten steel is a weather resistant structural steel containing copper, chromium and nickel. Beneath the rust patina, a dense barrier layer forms that protects against further corrosion. Ordinary structural steel sold as «rusted steel», by contrast, rusts through over time and stains slabs and walls.
