Garden showers in winter: draining & care
Automatic drain for winter use
At our customers' request, we have developed an automatic drain for the GS01 garden shower (hot and cold water). This lets you use your stainless steel garden shower in winter too, for example after the sauna or hot tub.
- The shower drains at the press of a button.
- No frozen pipes at low temperatures.
- No more laborious manual draining in the cellar.
- Can be retrofitted to the GS01 at any time or ordered directly as an option.
Without an automatic drain: how to drain the shower correctly
Without an automatic drain, a garden shower must not be used in wintry conditions. The entire shower, including the supply pipe outdoors, must be drained to make it frost-proof before winter sets in:
- Unscrew removable parts such as the shower head, hand shower and hose and store them somewhere frost-free.
- Close the stopcock of the supply pipe in the house and open all drain valves on the shower. Drain the supply pipe as well to make it frost-proof.
- Wait until the remaining water has drained from all pipes.
- Cold water showers: open the stopcock fully and leave it open over the winter.
- Hot and cold water showers: open the single-lever mixer in the middle position as far as it will go, operate the diverter valve several times until no more water comes out, and leave the mixer open in the middle position over the winter.
The shower does not need to be dismantled or wrapped up in winter. If it is covered anyway, the taps must remain in the open position. Incorrect handling voids the warranty and guarantee.
Cleaning & maintenance
Rinse the shower column regularly with fresh water so that the brushed surfaces stay beautiful for longer. Remove limescale marks with a soft cloth and vinegar essence or briefly with a descaling spray. Then rinse all parts thoroughly with water so that no residue remains on the stainless steel. Do not use sponges or abrasive cleaners.
Our stainless steel garden showers are maintenance-free and built to last a lifetime. We keep wearing parts such as cartridges and seals in stock.
